THE INFAMOUS DON T. RAT

Who is Don T. Rat?
What is Don T. Rat???

He’s certainly a rodent… look at those teeth!

But is he a rat? Not with a coat like that…

Is he a mouse? A groundhog?

Part chipmunk, part squirrel… squipmunk???

DID YOU KNOW?

🐀

DID YOU KNOW? 🐀

The word rodent comes from the Latin verb rodere, meaning “to gnaw.”

It’s a fitting name for this family of animals — mice, rats, squirrels, groundhogs, chipmunks, and their many cousins — because their defining trait is a set of ever-growing front teeth built for chewing. In fact, rodents must gnaw constantly just to keep those teeth from growing AND GROWING AND GROWING.

That’s why they chew not only NUTS, but also wood, wires, insulation, and anything else in their path.

Wreaking Havoc in the Attic

we may never know Don’s Family Tree, but one thing’s for certain: he’s no stranger to Michigan.

You’ve seen him before, scampering through your yard, under your siding, whiskers twitching, tail flicking, looking harmless enough. Beguiling. Benign. Easy to ignore.

But that’s his con. Don is not ordinary wildlife entertainment.

Just ask your neighbors. They’ve experienced scratching in the night and surveyed the damage in the morning. Don scales homes with ease and vanishes through the smallest gaps of a roof, claiming your home as his own.

From there, his first move is always patience – winning your trust with silence.

But once he’s comfortable, his performance begins. The scratching starts. Faint, at first. Then louder. Then constant. Before you realize what’s happening, Don has brought in his partner in crime. Together, they turn your attic into their nursery.

The Don is a master of multiplication. One squeak becomes two. Two squeaks become twenty. The pitter-patter of little feet becomes a midnight circus overhead. Sleep turns to frustration. Frustration to madness….

And Don doesn’t stop there. He chews through wires, tears apart insulation, and scatters droppings - a signature of conquest. With each scratch, each gnaw, each foul little gift, he cements his rule over your home.

Cute? At first. Harmless? Absolutely not.

Don T. Rat is a villain in fur… a tiny tyrant the darkness. And once he moves in, you’ll wish you’d never let him cross your threshold.
