Tired of ants invading your kitchen & eating your home?

Ants are one of the most common pest issues in the Ann Arbor area. In the case of Carpenter Ants they are also one of the most destructive.

Give us a call to schedule a free assessment and a Community Pest technician will help identify the type of ant infestation you’re experiencing and put together a simple control strategy to eliminate the entire colony. Ant treatment technology has advanced significantly and no longer requires invasive drilling of baseboards, dusting or spraying indoors. Modern treatment methods focus on baiting the ants and exterior treatments that are designed to be taken back to the nest

Signs You Have an Ant Problem

ANTS! EVERYWHERE!

Large black ants appearing inside your home in the spring is a sure sign you have a carpenter ant infestation. In Michigan, ants don’t typically start foraging inside from outside until well into June or early July. Carpenter ants sometimes leave frass or sawdust behind as a telltale sign of their presence. Small slow moving ants in bathrooms and kitchens that just won't go away are usually pavement ants. Ann Arbor has several less common pest ants such as acrobat ants, odorous house ants and citronella ants.

Give us a call to schedule a time for one of our Community Pest technicians to take care of those persistent ants!

How We Can Help

Our technicians will provide a thorough FREE inspection of the areas where you are seeing ants in your home. We will identify the type of ant that is infesting your home, create a plan to bait the ants and treat your homes exterior which will eliminate the entire colony.

Schedule INspection

We have several types of ants in the Ann Arbor area:

  • Carpenter Ants

While there are several types of large ants in Michigan, the most commonly seen indoors is the Carpenter Ant. These ants don’t actually eat wood (like termites do), they chew and remove the wood to make the tunnels that they live in, destroying the integrity of your home. In a Carpenter Ant nest there are several different sized ants ranging from 1/4 inch to 1 inch long. While they may look very different (some are fairly small and some surprisingly large with wings), they are all Carpenter Ants. When they aren’t chewing on your house they are busy looking for food inside and outside. Community Pest Solutions starts indoor treatment with noninvasive gel baits that the ants will eat, take back and distribute throughout their colony. We pair indoor baiting with a thorough exterior treatment that the ants will also take back to their colony. We guarantee our Carpenter Ant treatments for the remainder year!

  • Pavement Ants

The most common small ant invading Michigan homes is the pavement ant. Also known as Slab Ants or Sugar Ants, these pests commonly live under concrete slab foundations, porches and inside wall voids. Pavement ants are a common pest all year, commonly invading your kitchen or bathroom. Community Pest Solutions will start indoor treatment with noninvasive gel baits that the ants will eat, take back and distribute throughout their colony. We pair baiting with a thorough exterior perimeter treatment that works the same way. We guarantee our Pavement Ant treatments for the remainder of the year!

  • Acrobat Ants

Acrobat ants are another small pest ant in the Ann Arbor area. Their name comes from the defensive behavior of raising their heart shaped abdomen above their head like an acrobat when disturbed. Acrobat ants tend to nest in water damaged areas and foam board insulation. If you have sawdust (or foam dust) falling from the peak of your ceiling it may be acrobat ants!

  • Citronella Ants

Citronella ants are soil dwelling ants most often invade homes built on concrete slabs or crawl spaces. These medium sized yellow/orange or golden colored ants smell distinctly like lemon or citronella when you squish them! Their colonies can grow into the hundreds of thousands and often send out flying swarmers to start new colonies in the later summer.

  • Odorous House Ants

These tiny fast moving ants are becoming more and more common in Ann Arbor. They often seek out moist water damaged areas to make their nests. They get their common name from the rotten coconut smell they emit when crushed! Odorous house ants live in large fragmented colonies making them very difficult to control without professional help.

insect Control REVIEWS FROM YOUR NEIGHBORS

“Community Pest Solutions is incredibly effective with insect and pest infestation. We purchased the annual maintenance plan after reviewing the positive reviews and shopping around. When issues came up, they were very responsive, typically with a 1-2 day turnaround. Eric was our main contact and when he was over, he was very thorough. He would review all possible insect & mice entrances which resulted in climbing into the attic to ensure it was sealed up and reviewing any growth in the gutters that could exacerbate insect growth. I highly recommend using them for any insect or rodent issues you may have. They are very reliable and can be counted on to do a great job!”

“I went with this company because it had excellent reviews online & was local. The receptionist returned my call within 10 min, explained the process & scheduled us within a week. It's now been a week since Derek treated for an extreme yellow jacket infestation, he treated 2 areas we knew about & a 3rd we did not. The yellow jackets were gone in 2-3 days. We signed up for the annual service so Derek treated for other insects as well. I could not be more impressed with this company! Derek was professional, kind & knowledgeable about the chemicals used. I'm looking forward to not having to deal with Asian lady beetles, stink bugs, boxelder bugs or any other insect issues anymore!”

“We discovered a big ant infestation in a guest bedroom so called Community Pest Solutions right away. They put us on their schedule. They were able to come 2 weeks early and took care of the problem. We were able to have guests stay in that room. Thank you Community Pest Solutions.”

“John was prompt, knowledgeable, explained the extent of my ant issue and the process to treat it. I thought I had carpenter ants; turned out it was acrobat ants. I was concerned about the safety of the bait and spray used, as I have pets and enjoy the local birds and wildlife. John took the time to explain everything and made me more comfortable. Hoping my ant invasion is over, but if not, they guarantee they will return for the remainder of the year to retreat if necessary. Highly recommend Community Pest Solutions.”
