How We Can Help
Our technicians will provide a thorough inspection of the areas where you are seeing cockroaches in your home. We will identify the type of roach that is infesting your home and develop a treatment plan to eliminate them for good.
We have several types of cockroach in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas:
-
German Cockroaches
German roaches, also known as “water bugs” are the most common type of cockroach we find infesting homes and apartments in the Ann Arbor area. Adults are about one half of an inch long, light brown and very fast. They are often unwittingly brought home in products from grocery stores or from work places. When introduced to a home they quickly reproduce and become difficult to control with over the counter products. Our thorough, thoughtful treatment methods make eliminating them a breeze.
-
Oriental Cockroaches
Oriental cockroaches, also sometimes referred to as “water bugs” are large black or dark brown insects. These roaches are most prevalent in the Downtown Ann Arbor area. They live and reproduce in warm moist areas, especially the city sewer system. When drain traps dry or pipes crack they allow these creepy pests to enter basements of homes and businesses. Our Community Pest technicians will treat to eliminate the existing roaches and help identify how they are getting in!
-
Spotted Mediterranean Cockroaches
Mediterranean roaches are a relatively new invasive species in the Ann Arbor area. They are a tiny light brown cockroach that lives outdoors in wooded areas. They are attracted to lights at night like many insects are and often sneak indoors where they are mistaken for German cockroaches. Fortunately these roaches are very susceptible to treatment and can be eliminated through a simple home exterior treatment.
-
American Cockroaches
American roaches are similar in behavior to oriental roaches. Also sometimes referred to as “water bugs” these are the largest cockroaches you'll find in Ann Arbor coming in at over 1.5 inches long! Most prevalent in the Downtown Ann Arbor area, these cockroaches usually come up from these sewer systems when drain traps dry out or through broken pipes. Our Community Pest technicians will treat to eliminate the existing roaches and help identify how they are getting in!
-
Pennsylvania wood roach
Wood roaches are a common dark brown cockroach that are actually native to Michigan! They live in mature forests on trees and in leaf litter. They occasionally invade homes that are situated in wooded areas and are sometimes brought inside on firewood and lawn furniture. Wood roaches are rarely a significant pest issue but when they are, a simple home exterior treatment can typically resolve the issue.

insect Control REVIEWS FROM YOUR NEIGHBORS
“Community Pest Solutions is incredibly effective with insect and pest infestation. We purchased the annual maintenance plan after reviewing the positive reviews and shopping around. When issues came up, they were very responsive, typically with a 1-2 day turnaround. Eric was our main contact and when he was over, he was very thorough. He would review all possible insect & mice entrances which resulted in climbing into the attic to ensure it was sealed up and reviewing any growth in the gutters that could exacerbate insect growth. I highly recommend using them for any insect or rodent issues you may have. They are very reliable and can be counted on to do a great job!”

“I went with this company because it had excellent reviews online & was local. The receptionist returned my call within 10 min, explained the process & scheduled us within a week. It's now been a week since Derek treated for an extreme yellow jacket infestation, he treated 2 areas we knew about & a 3rd we did not. The yellow jackets were gone in 2-3 days. We signed up for the annual service so Derek treated for other insects as well. I could not be more impressed with this company! Derek was professional, kind & knowledgeable about the chemicals used. I'm looking forward to not having to deal with Asian lady beetles, stink bugs, boxelder bugs or any other insect issues anymore!”

“We discovered a big ant infestation in a guest bedroom so called Community Pest Solutions right away. They put us on their schedule. They were able to come 2 weeks early and took care of the problem. We were able to have guests stay in that room. Thank you Community Pest Solutions.”

“John was prompt, knowledgeable, explained the extent of my ant issue and the process to treat it. I thought I had carpenter ants; turned out it was acrobat ants. I was concerned about the safety of the bait and spray used, as I have pets and enjoy the local birds and wildlife. John took the time to explain everything and made me more comfortable. Hoping my ant invasion is over, but if not, they guarantee they will return for the remainder of the year to retreat if necessary. Highly recommend Community Pest Solutions.”

“We uncovered a yellow jacket nest under the deck, kicking up an angry swarm just a couple of hours before an outside gathering, We were on the verge of having to cancel the whole thing when Joe answered our SOS. He arrived within 20 minutes and swiftly exterminated the problem. We were so grateful for the speedy and professional service. We highly recommend Community Pest Solutions!”
