Do you have bats in your home?
We’ve found that approximately 35% of the homes we inspect for other wildlife also have an undiagnosed bat problem!
The Ann Arbor area has a diverse ecosystem that provides all of the conditions necessary for an abundance of bats. Bats need dry, semi-enclosed areas to live and reproduce. In nature, they live in hollow trees and caves. In Ann Arbor, they find the gaps along your roof line and and under ridge vents to be perfect entry points in your home.
Signs You Have a Bat Problem
Bats are most active in the spring and summer in Michigan. They hibernate in attics in the colder months. You might have a bat, or whole bat family living in your home if you notice:
A live bat inside your living space
A large amount of bats exiting your roof at dusk
Piles of black/brown droppings accumulating in your attic
Light, mostly stationary scratching in your ceiling or walls
High pitched chirping or chattering associated with the scratching sounds
How We’LL SOLVE IT
Our bat exclusion experts can evict the bats in your home and help ensure they never come back. Beyond removing bats, we identify where they’re coming in and close the entry points, such as gaps under your siding, around utilities, and through your soffits and roof ridge vent.
“After hearing an ominous scratching in our attic, Community came out and determined we had a bat problem. They were on-time, professional, and thorough. Our experience was excellent and they will be our first call for any future needs.”
— Annie G., Ann Arbor
Our humane bat eviction & exclusion process
We will provide an initial assessment of your home to locate the bat entry points. Once we have fully assessed you home and discussed service options with you, we will provide you with a written agreement.
Your Community Pest bat expert will start your bat eviction process by sealing all of the minor and potential bat entry points. Once we have narrowed the major entry points we will install clear plastic eviction tubes (one way doors) over the bat entry points so they can slide out but not fly back in. Because bats are poor climbers the smooth, clear, plastic tubes prevent them from returning to your attic.
We leave the one way doors installed for a period of time and then return to remove them and permanently seal the main entry points.
Our offerings:
Bat eviction
Bat exclusion
Bat control
Thinking of trying DIY Bat removal first?
You can use ugly yellow foam to attempt to seal entry points or try DIY solutions that include essential oil or ultrasonic devices.
These home remedies may temporarily deter bats, but they don’t ever get to the root of the problem. Your home may have many difficult-to-access entry points around the exterior where bats are gaining access to your attic and wall voids.
Our expert technicians will crawl and climb around your home's exterior to locate the bat entry points, install one way doors to evict them and use high quality, bat proof products to provide long lasting permanent exclusion.

“After hearing an ominous scratching in our attic, we called Community Pest Solutions. Derek came out to take a look and determined we had a bat problem. He explained our options and came out with a crew a couple weeks later. They were on-time, professional and thorough. They found a yellow jacket nest in the process and removed it as well. Our experience was excellent and they will be our first call for any future needs. Community Pest Solutions is actually local company. Unlike the national companies, they don't try to sell you on some annual subscription package. We really appreciated their professionalism and pride in their work.”
— Annie G.
“We currently have mice and were getting quotes from different exterminators. The inspections were back to back. The initial inspection was done by a big named company and I felt confident in what they were saying. That was until John came out from Community Pest Solutions. He inspected areas that were not looked at in the previous company’s inspection. John showed me how the previous owners of our home also had an issue with bats and how he could tell. Also never mentioned. The opposite was told to me by the other company. John even found a dead mouse in the same spot the previous inspector was. John did not know until later in the inspection that another company had been there right before him. I felt comfortable and confident that Community Pest Solutions is the right company for the job. They are a local business too. Which we like to support. If you have called larger named companies, please call Pest Control Solutions for a quote before you sign a contract. You will not be disappointed.”
— Heather G.
