CUTE, BUT DESTRUCTIVE…

Squirrels may be cute and furry woodland creatures, but they are also destructive rodents that can cause significant damage to your home. They often chew wires causing fire risk and expensive repairs. They also deposit large amounts of disgusting droppings and urine. When nesting in attics, squirrels destroy insulation – severely reducing your home's energy efficiency.

We know where to look for squirrel entry points. During our free inspection we will check your homes gable vents, soffits, drip edges, ridge vents and all of the other hidden areas squirrels often use to enter homes.

HOW to tell YOU have a squirrel problem

Squirrels are active all year in Michigan. It's time to get help if you’re noticing:

  • Fast and loud running, thumping and scurrying in your attic or walls

  • Activity is most noticeable around sunrise and sunset

  • Nuts rolling across the ceiling

  • Chewing sounds or chewed wires or wood

  • Large deposits of walnuts, pine cones or hickory nuts in your attic or basement

How We’LL SOLVE IT

Our technicians will provide a thorough free inspection of your attic, basement, home foundation and roof. We will identify the squirrel entry points around your home, create a plan to trap the squirrels and provide the appropriate exclusion work necessary to help keep them out for good!

PINE SQUIRRELS (AKA RED SQUIRRELS)

Our most common problem squirrel is the small, jittery, red/orange Pine squirrel (often referred to as a “red squirrel”). These squirrels are very active spending day after day filling attics and walls with nesting material, walnuts and pine cones.

FLYING SQUIRRELS

The nocturnal and very common Flying squirrel can live in colonies of over 30 individuals and occupy attics, walls and even basements. These squirrels can glide over 150 feet from nearby tree tops to access roofs and vents.

FOX SQUIRRELS, GREY SQUIRRELS & BLACK SQUIRRELS

The larger squirrels often seen hopping around residential yards are Fox squirrels, Gray squirrels and Black squirrels. These squirrels occasionally chew their way through wooden soffits to gain access into homes but most often prefer to nest in Ann Arbor's mature hardwood trees.

“My wife and I have an older home (1930), and we were hearing a lot of squirrel activity in our attic. We had the privilege of working with Eric from CPS and he took exceptional care of us. I can't imagine having gone with any other service or working with any other individual.”

— AUSTIN E.

“Derek mitigated the flying squirrels’ entry points so the critters can’t get back in. He let me know when he came and went and what he found. I’d still be waiting for the other companies I called. I appreciate being able to have a local company, not an impersonal chain.”

CPS were very friendly when handling my initial phone for services. Joe was our service technician and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained how the live traps worked. We had groundhogs taking over our backyard. To my surprise, the next day there was a groundhog, 2 raccoons and a squirrel in the traps!!! We are so pleased with CPS.

— TERESA F.

“Our adversary is the common Squirrel! So far, so good. Everyone at Community Pest has been competent and professional. Chris did a thorough inspection and patiently answered my questions about our squirrel infestation. After setting traps and and explaining the process for squirrel removal, the sounds of squirrels running thru my attic has ceased!”
