Raccoons are common home invaders in the rural and urban areas around Washtenaw county. We receive as many calls about raccoons from Pittsfield Township and Dexter Township as we do from Kerrytown and Barton Hills!
Peak raccoon activity occurs in the early spring when they are preparing warm dry areas (your attic) to birth their pups. They will pull, chew and destroy shingles, gable vents and soffits to enter attics and then gather large amounts of insulation to create a warm, secure location to live for the next two to four months.
After their pups are born you may notice soft mewing, loud mewing and chattering followed by screeching and fighting, running and thumping as the pups become more mobile. Raccoons can have up to eight pups at once! Over the course of three to four months they will eventually leave on their own until the following spring.

We will first inspect to confirm the presence of raccoons. Once confirmed, we will inspect the exterior of your structure to identify their entry points.
Rather than baiting traps and attracting random animals from nearby, we typically place traps over the confirmed entry points to be sure we are catching the problem raccoons.
