Is that a Beaver in our yard?!?

Unless you live on the Huron River, it’s probably a groundhog. Even if you do live on the river, it’s probably a groundhog.

Groundhogs (also called woodchucks) are large, brown, burrowing rodents that are often mistaken for beavers. Groundhogs often burrow against home foundations, excavating large amounts of soil and allowing water to flood basements. Groundhogs nesting against home foundations can also introduce fleas into a home. Nothing is more appetizing to a groundhog than a freshly planted garden or landscaping!

We know how and when to live trap a problem groundhog and will steer you in the right direction based on your situation.

How to tell if you have a groundhog problem

Groundhogs are active early spring through fall in the Ann Arbor area. It's time to get help if you are noticing:

  • Groundhogs burrowing against your home’s foundation

  • Groundhogs destroying your garden or landscaping

  • Chewing of vehicle wires

Groundhog Control Community Pest Solutions Ann Arbor

Our approach

Once we have determined that your groundhog burrow is active, we will use our specialty live traps that are placed directly over the burrow funneling the groundhog into the trap whether it is coming or going.

We will block off all other avenues of escape funneling the critter into our trap so it can not be avoided. Using this method we can avoid using traps baited with food which attract many non-target animals. When baited traps are used unnecessarily, opossums, raccoons and skunks are often caught, which significantly increases your cost and amount of trapping needed.

WhY COmmunity?

As local pest professionals, we care deeply about you and your home. We’re here to help you take care of groundhogs and other pests so that you and your family can fully enjoy your space.

REAL Groundhog removal REVIEWS FROM YOUR NEIGHBORS

“I had a groundhog problem that was destroying my lawn and shed. I called for an appointment. Not only did they set traps, but they provided a tutorial of why certain locations were being used. It totally shocked me as the individual check the wooded area for entry and exit points. After all of this they were able to trap the monster groundhogs that were causing damage.

“CPS were very friendly when handling my initial phone for services. Joe was our service technician and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained how the live traps worked. We had groundhogs taking over our backyard. To my surprise, the next day there was a groundhog, 2 racoons and a squirrel in the traps!!! We are so pleased with CPS and would use them again.”

“Joe is very knowledgeable and pollinator friendly. We are beekeepers and wanted to get rid of the carpenter bees in the house but not hurt our honey bees or any native pollinators. He also helped us with chipmunks in the attic (really!) and a groundhog. Joe did a great job and we can highly recommend him.”

“John captured two huge groundhogs in two days. There is one day to go, and three traps are baited and set. I'm hoping he can catch a juvenile or two before we finish, but removing these two has given me hope that my flowers will live through the season and come back in the spring!”
